![]() ![]() Puerto Rico, which is neither incorporated into the United States nor an independent country, does not have much of a local art market. It is housed in the hard-to-find attic of the easy-to-miss National Museum of Puerto Rican Arts and Culture, a gorgeously turreted building on the edge of Humboldt Park, surrounded by fencing that suggests a construction site with limited access rather than a recently-renovated historic building housing the sole museum of its kind off the Island. One sort of answer to this question is offered by "Calibán," a vibrant, if uneven, group show of six contemporary Puerto Rican artists, including the terrifically grounded Jesús "Bubu" Negron and the iconoclastic Chemi Rosadeo-Seijo. What is lost when art disappears from view, and where does it go? The human equivalent would be euthanasia and burial, with a sizable settlement doled out to the living. Once declared a total loss, salvage art is removed from circulation and warehoused indefinitely, never to be seen (or, more importantly, sold) again. ![]() The SAI is a repository for what art insurers call "salvage art" - art that has been accidentally damaged and its owners indemnified. Reading the manifesto of the Salvage Art Institute (SAI), a project begun by the artist Elka Krajewska in 2009, quickly dashes such optimistic thoughts. Maybe these broken artworks are simply waiting to be fixed? (Yes, even the mammoth, rainbow-hued Robert Rauschenberg print that bears a scrape near its center can be fingered.) Movable carts and bold numbering make the setting part art storage facility, part conservation laboratory. Wife/girlfriend/newbie approved! Easy to pick up and play with no gaming experience. The scene is genuinely shocking, tempered only by a tightly conceived display, and the thrilling fact that visitors are allowed to touch the art."It is the perfect game to sit around and play with your friends."."It’s just a ton of fun and like nothing I've experienced."."It's definitely one of the best multiplayer games I've played in a long, long time."I defy you to have more local multiplayer fun with any other game.".So grab your controllers and friends and give it a shot! User Feedback Rounds are quick and lively, and always end in laughter and friendly shouting. Other game modes create similar tension by putting players in a conflicted position of wanting to accomplish a goal, but risking elimination by doing so. Do you sprint ahead, calling attention to yourself but maximizing you chances of winning? Or do you hang back with the pack? Each player has a gun with one bullet, and can eliminate one person from the race. ![]() One of the simplest game modes is called "Death Race." Players and NPCs are racing to be the first to cross a finish line. The goal is to blend in with the NPCs, accomplish the task at hand, and take out other players before they get you. Players are given a task, but also the means to eliminate each other from the game. In each game mode, players control characters in a sea of identical NPCs. Hidden in Plain Sight is a set of local multiplayer (2-4 players) game modes that share a common theme: trying to accomplish goals without drawing attention to yourself. REQUIRES XBOX COMPATIBLE (OR EMULATED) CONTROLLERS. ![]()
